Anvika, Arvin and other stuff

It has been a while since I have posted something here. I have re-kindled my interest in blogging. It's an amazing platform that shows you exactly how much you have matured over time. These posts are your own, nothing can take that away from you!

A few quick updates. I am a doctor (not a real one ofcourse - a Ph.D) and a DAD! (more emphatically, a frickin' DAD)! We had a beautiful baby girl last month! We are calling her Anvika (Full name: Anvika Gayathri Sarpatwar or as my brother fondly refers to her : AGS). What's more - I am also an UNCLE! My brother and SIL had the cutest baby boy - Arvin (no, not ARVIND). Full name : Arvin Krishna Sarpatwari (AKS). Other big piece of news - I will be joining IBM T. J. Watson as a research staff member in a couple of weeks!  Things have been so exciting, so often, that I am used to it already. For example, Niha (my beautiful wife)'s sister had her second baby - Avantika! What's more? My SIL's sis also had a baby boy! It's hard to keep up but summary: there are babies floating all around ..

Angels and Jeannies

I had to write something but what
Something I had dreamt about but forgot
I know ! I should write about you,
You whose sweet smile was seen by so few
Yes, I have you !

I think about you, all the time
all the time, Yes I'm !
I know, I know, it should rhyme,
But if the poem lost it's meaning it would be such a huge crime.

Ah, then. That wasn't so hard, I think.
Poet is not a jeannie, who on a double eyed blink,
Creates something, so obscure !
Just look up the thesaurus, and conjure !!

Return but to a different place.

I am back - my last post was on April 13, 2010, more than an year ago.  A lot has changed in one year and I am here in US reading about my adventures back in chennai. It was fun, hanging out with Mom, although the Job sucked. Now that I have started my PhD, life is challenging once again(in a good way) but I miss her bad :-).

I have begun to understand the advantages of blogging - first it's a terrific stress buster and two it's like a time capsule you could come back and read later, how lame you were back, well, now.  Thanks to anusha for reviving my "enthu" in blogging.

I promise, I will follow this boring post by more interesting ones. Thanks for reading !!

The Tamil New Year

Going through this blog, I realized that I write less lamer posts when I let my pen flow on its own, figuratively. So I promise to let the pen flow. I also promise, to write at least one post a week, to who ever cares to read.
I am not sure if it is something I wear, or something I do, but some days I just feel every girl just gawks at me. I, in turn, enjoy watching girls. Not in a perverted way of-course (Note to self: Do not let the pen flow too much). I am just subtly interested in girls. Thank you for reading that and not judging. No, this is not an ad.
As Suresh Raina destroys whatever was left of KKR, Tamil Nadu celebrates New Year day tomorrow (actually just 2 mins away, as I write this). I am very thankful to this day, as I get a dearly wanted holiday. "So much to do" I keep telling mom, who has taken a ferocious interest in playing the Business Man(/Woman, cannot believe the lack of vision of the person who named this game) and wants me to play in every little time window available. And yet here I am blogging, as she dozed off silently. God bless her :).
Its boiling hot here in Chennai and the voltage is fluctuating in Perungudi. Anyway 15 more days to go. Happy New Year Chennai. Happy holiday to me.

My lady on the bus

She came in like an angel who lost her wings,
I looked at her feet, those bore wedding rings,
She looked tired, beautifully though,
Stood for a while and then moved on real slow,
Asked me to pass the ticket, with faintest of smiles,
because the conductor was away by miles,
I could not stop staring at her,
People passing by were merely a blur,
This lady was strange, full of mystery,
I tried a theory to build up her story,
Bad marriage, that explained all,
May be she was tall and her husband small,
She got down,
As the bus stopped with an irking sound,
Her husband held her down, as she jumped like a buck,
I stood there wondering, what the fuck..

The Mind

Mind. A marvelous object. It shoots a thought a millisecond. Most of them don't make sense though. Directing them is where the real challenge lies. We all think without stopping. May be not even in sleep. But great thinkers are those who have learned the art of concentrating their thoughts on one thing. Once you have succeeded in doing that, the rest is relatively easy. It is in fact harder to come out that state of concentration. Take John Nash for instance.

And on the 5th day the fans started rotating, but with jerks

Creativity is purely accidental and greatest creators of this planet are the luckiest sons of guns to frolic on it. Let us assume this is true and have a peace of mind. There are all kinds of creators . Some create shit and some can not. Shit generally happens, it is not created, not intentionally at least. To imagine every one can, but only few come with brilliant ideas. Reason. Random sampling.

Let us imagine, as we can, the flux of ideas flowing across space and time. Now imagine us to be rather static entities performing the process of 'ideating'. Now the so called great ideas must be, by definition, rare. These obviously occur at a certain space and time point to a certain lucky creator. I repeat, creation is arbitrary, take the shit you are reading for example.

Now people get offended when another says 'the creation' was by accident. I hope to have calmed at-least a few. God is, by my argumentation, is the biggest fluke buster.
